Converson Policy for Community Counseling Programs to Become CMHC
CACREP has adopted a new policy to allow Community Counseling programs to undergo an abbreviated review process and become Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs. This process is avaialble to Community Counseling programs who were accredited in the last few years of the 2001 Standards. The deadline to submit under this policy is July 1, 2015.
"We appreciate the CACREP mission to review and accredit programs. We believe that this work has and continues to raise the quality of all counseling programs and the counseling profession. As we draw a significant number of students from outside our state and from overseas, our accreditation becomes an important benefit to our students. CACREP accreditation helps potential employers and licensing boards know and trust the content of our curriculum and the skills and values our students gain. It helps them view our graduates with confidence and assumed competence."
